THE MENSTRUAL HEALTH PROJECT
HACKING HALLOWEEN FOR ENDOMETRIOSIS AWARENESS
CHALLENGE
Endometriosis. The excruciating gynaecological condition where cells similar to the womb lining escape and grow in places they don’t belong. There are around 190 million sufferers globally. Despite this number, many still don’t know what it is. Girls as young as nine are misdiagnosed and prescribed the contraceptive pill. And it can take on average, 8 years to be officially diagnosed.
Early diagnosis is critical to prevent long-term damage.
The Menstrual Health Project wanted to raise awareness and break the silence around symptoms that go unspoken. Together we created a film highlighting the horror of endometriosis. Released in time for Halloween, the film uses visceral images of flesh being torn from the inside of a pumpkin to represent the internal tearing and debilitating pain sufferers endure every single day.
